Placement Semester
The study combines business law and business mediation skills with an application-based legal education. The tight connection between practice and theory is therefore in the centre of attention. Because of this intention the students of the Faculty of Business Law pass their fourth semester in practice.
For strengthening the relationship between practice and theory also in this semester the interns give presentations on diverse topics of commercial law in the University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden. In their presentations the speakers link their theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Moreover the students of the fourth semester show the many fields of employment for business lawyers in the practice.
Information about the Placement Semester
The University of Applied Science Schmalkalden prepares the students for the professional practice purposefully. Therefore a fixed placement semester is a central part of the study.In the fourth semester a practical training for twenty weeks is scheduled. During this semester our students make use of their legal and economic knowledge in an operating enterprise and gain valuable experiences. They receive support by accompanying courses and an individual coaching.
After a short period of vocational adjustment the trainees are able to solve qualified business legal requests on their own. After the placement semester the students choose their two majors and duty modules more consciously and more precisely due to the gained insight in the professional life.
Provisions
The study and examination regulations are remitted statutes from the faculty which regulate the necessary requirements and with that also the practical parts of the study and the courses of the study.Organization of the Placement Semester
Every student has to search an appropriate training appointment for his or her placement semester by him- or herself. We recommend imperatively to endeavour a corresponding internship in due time. In particular foreign internships require a long lead time.
Please hand over the filled out trainee contract to your advisor for inspection and permission of the training appointment before starting the placement semester.
Placement Semester as a Duty Part
The placement semester is a duty part for all of our students. A recognition of training and previous placements does not occur. So we can guarantee the practical reverence of our study.Placement Advisor
During the entire placement semester a professor is in charge of problems and questions about the placement chosen by the student him- or herself. If questions occur already before they can incorporate contact with the general placement advisor Prof. Dr. Schellberg.Search of a Placement
